It’s Wedding Season!
I thought that I would make the theme of this Friday’s email one of the most romantic type of a wedding you can imagine… a wedding on board a tall ship sailing the high seas…. let’s combine the wedding with a wonderful vacation for everyone in attendance! Win – win I would say! And you know if Johnny Depp makes an appearance, well I wouldn’t point a cannon at him!
So enjoy this week’s blog and I haven’t given up on love yet… I am still looking for my future 3rd ex-husband.. I know he is out there somewhere!
Probably the most well-known of the Tall Ship cruise lines, this small-ship specialist operates three classic motor-sail yachts, along with three 212 guest power ships. The onboard ambiance is upscale but casual. The sail ships typically operate in romantic warm-weather destinations like the Caribbean, the Greek Islands, the Mediterranean, Costa Rica/Panama and year round in Tahiti.
The typical Windstar clientele is couples, often traveling with other couples and the age varies by the destination. Typically Windstar is for active 50-, 60- and 70-year old’s who enjoy zip-lining and hiking… destination enthusiasts… no sitting on a tour bus for them! You will also find yacht club members, foodies, wine aficionados and they are all well traveled.
Cost? Always the bottom line with any trip… Windstar has discounted rates for this summer and next as low as $999.00 pp for European destinations and averaging $3,499.00 pp for their Tahiti cruises (with air from LAX included!)
This three-ship company operates 10 – 26 passenger vessels that appeal to casual couples looking for an atypical cruise experience.
They attract honeymooners and especially those celebrating milestone anniversaries. Their guests are not looking for ritz, glitz and nonstop entertainment. They want to spend their days exploring new ports, hiking, sightseeing and snorkeling. They’ll enjoy a bonfire on the beach at night, with drinks at the local beach bar or swimming with the fish when the underwater lights go on at night. They serve food that fresh and not cooked for the masses with comfortable cabin accommodations and an all-inclusive format.
The average guest is 45+ from the U.S. and Europe. The ambiance is casual, no dressing up… all meals are served al fresco…you will love dining on the deck beneath the stars. What could be more romantic than that!
Cost? An average cruise fare is about $2,200 pp for a 6 night voyage….
This company operates sailing ships primarily in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean, but also in Asia. They have the 227 passenger five-masted Royal Clipper and the 170-guest Star Clipper and Star Flyer. The 300- passenger Flying Clipper is under construction and, upon entering service in mid-2018 will be the world’s largest square rigger (whatever that means!)
Life on board is casual, with no rigid schedule. There are no Las Vegas revues – rather, local performers are brought on board to give guess an authentic taste of the local music and arts. The ships offer such activities as knot tying and navigation classes, which have evolved from Star Clippers’ sailing tradition.
Clients are very international, with U.S. and Canadian guests as well as those from Europe, Asia and Australia. The age range varies based on itineraries, but on average, passengers are in their 40’s and 50’s.
Cost? Recent promotions show fares starting at $1,245.00 pp on six- to 14 night Caribbean cruises on Royal Clipper or Star Flyer on various dates through March 2018. Also 12- to 18- night Mediterranean Grand voyages through November 2017 start at $3,310.00 pp including airfare and prepaid gratuities.
